Dark of Dawn ESCAPE I heard the beast howl not too far behind me. They were gaining on me. I ran as fast as I could, trees and bushes ripping past me, tearing my skin to shreds. I heard a faint rumbling in the distance and wondered if it was the great waterfall some of the others had talked about. I ran towards it. The noise got louder and louder and so did the howling behind me. I burst out from a thicket of trees and stopped dead in my tracks. Before me a great torrent of water was rushing past then disappearing over the edge of a cliff. I walked to the edge, all thought gone from my mind and looked down at the crashing waters far below.
